Jamie and Todd - Wedding

Jamie and Todd's wedding took place at The Queen Anne Victorian Mansion in North Portland on Saturday. It was a 7pm ceremony with Jamie and Todd staying apart beforehand. I knew ambient light would be in real short supply going in so I armed myself to the teeth with off camera lighting, speedlights and extra batteries. If I haven't said so yet, the Queen Anne Mansion is AMAZING. It's full of these great nooks and crannies for great portrait shots. However, the close quarters and low light can make it tricky for a shooter not packing extra lighting power, but I came prepared!

Anyway, Jamie and Todd are a really nice, laid back couple who unfortunately had their wedding plans turned upside down with the closing of the Empress Palace in February along with 27 other couples. Not only did their venue tank, but it took their sizable deposit along with it - no good! Fortunately, Jamie contacted me early this past week and we were able to work out a great quick coverage package.

It's looking like everything came together fabulously in the end. Jamie, who has a lot of modeling experience, went for a vintage pinup theme for her wedding. It came together AMAZINGLY well and I am super excited at how fun the shots have turned out. I think her theme matched perfectly with the Queen Anne. Anyway, congrats again to Jamie and Todd! Enjoy the shots everyone...

Amber and Ryan - Wedding

Had a great time this past weekend at Amber and Ryan's wedding in Tualatin. We managed to miss the hail/snow/slush that came down the next day -- yaay. However, we did have to brave the cold for the outside shots. Thanks to everyone in the wedding party for trooping it out!

I also had a chance to talk with Amick Events, who were on DJ and Host duty for the reception.

Anyway, congrats again to Amber and Ryan, you two are great together!

Kate and Dennis - Engagement Session

I met up with Kate and Dennis on the Portland Waterfront on Sunday for a quick engagement shoot. We caught a bit of a drizzle and some cloud cover, but I'm still quite happy with the shots. Spending time shooting on the docks was certainly a highlight, I love how the water and bridges play into the background!

Kate and Dennis really are a sweet couple -- affectionate in a shy, playful kind of way that's simply charming. It was great trying to capture that chemistry in these shots.

Carlie and Tim - Engagement Session

A Day at the Beach

Met up with Carlie and Tim in Lincoln City on Sunday for some engagement pictures. Wow, the drive out through the countryside is really something to see. The two had first heard of me through Gretchen and Camas's wedding this past summer.

There was a bit of a concern for the weather earlier in the day, but by afternoon the beach was simply gorgeous. The coast is just a great place to shoot pictures, and some of my favorite shots of the day were taken beneath this really cool looking old dock.

Tim is a photographer himself, so it was great talking shop a little bit; he said it was interesting to take a turn in front of the lens for a change. They're a great couple and I'm quite happy with how the shots turned out. I need to shoot pictures on the coast more often!

Kelsi - Model Shoot

Met up with Kelsi and Aimee this morning at the studio for some really fun shots. I brought along my mobile strobe lights (woo, Pocket Wizards!) so we took the shoot outdoors and I'm really happy with how the shots look. I love the personality and energy Kelsi brought to the table. Darrin - Yes, that's your guitar!

Robin - Bridal Fashion Shoot

I'd been working on organizing this bridal photo shoot for a few weeks, and I'm pretty darn happy with how the shots are turning out! It certainly was a very fun experience coordinating all of the elements involved.

Tim, my good colleague and cohort from Digital Works Productions, was on hand to contribute creative ideas as well as document the shoot on video.

Aimee was extremely enthused to contribute her makeup talents, and Robin was our awesome model.

Special thanks to Helena of Ania Bridal in downtown Portland who was generous enough to loan us a pair of wedding gowns by Augusta Jones.
